How do you feel when someone tries to push you? You dont like it, and your instinct is to resist. But what about when someone takes you by the hand and leads you? Then your instinct is to follow them. Its the same with fitness. When youre being pushed into getting fit because you have to, maybe for medical reasons or because youre tired of the pain of being overweight, then your mind tries to resist. The incentive might work for a while but it gets harder and harder to stay consistent because your mind doesnt like being bullied. When you have a positive goal however thats really exciting to you, pulling you along, its a different story. Thats why having a reason to get fit that youre really passionate about is so important. I have been living the fitness lifestyle consistently now for about 8 years, and from the beginning I had my goals that drove me along and kept me going. But it wasnt until I discovered the world of competing that I had a goal that Im so incredibly passionate and excited about. Now I cant wait to get out of bed each day to get to the gym. Ive never worked out so seriously and Ive never been so disciplined with my diet. Not because I have to, but because I want to. So its not a chore for me, its what I love. Make sure you too always have an exciting goal in your mind that leads you down your chosen path. And never stop searching for an even more exciting goal.
