How do you get these raised stencil designs? If you can frost a cupcake, you can do this technique. A bit of tape, some texture, and the stencil of your choice. First, I did an overall background texture. Once dry, I used tape to create the raised edges of the border... I based this on the width of the stencil being used. Once that was dry, I frosted texture over the stencil, pulled the stencil through the wet texture, and voila... the shape of the stencil is left behind in raised texture. The depth of the pattern has nothing to do with the thickness of the mylar, but rather, how heavily you trowel on the texture. Let dry and paint or glaze.
