How does dropping a bucket of water with ice on your head bring you closer to Allah! Number of ustadhs on my fb news feed are proudly giving details of their experience!! - Its for charity! Then why the focal attention on your experience and not on your charity cause?! And those doing it for Gazza, really try bombs dropping on your head!! Theres no need to mention the number of ahadith and ayats on charity that it should done in way in secret, without bringing attention to oneself, exclusively for the sake of Allah etc - its a bit of fun and play! You call this fun? In truth its foolishness! And some times grown men deliberately act foolish in order to win over others and this is probably whats going through the minds of our Ustadhs to those theyre supposed to elevate, so they think that they are easy-going, level headed, humorous and funny! To have fun we dont have to be foolish! ie steep to a level where an idiot cannot be disguised! Did not the Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) play with youths, tease his wives and joke with his companions (sahaba) and in those did he (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) act foolish or do foolish things?! Yes it is reported the companions (ra) did do funny things but they did not use it for a noble cause! The matter of Gazza, helping the poor or elevating the youth is a serious matter and Bakr ibn ‘Abdillah said: “The Companions of the Prophet used to throw melon-rinds at one another, but when the matter was serious, they were the only true men.” [adab al-muftad] The life of the disbelievers is purposeless, they have no sense accountability and hence the freakiest thing, the most ghastly endeavour, the most horrific act will be seen as mere fun and play. It is not for us to mimic their stupidity but expose it, present the truth and warn them of the consequences. And Allah SWT says, Did you think that We had created you in play (without any purpose), and that you would not be brought back to Us?” [TMQ 23:155]
