How is the fact that Robin Williams daughter got a hummingbird tattoo on her hand in memory of her father a trending topic? There are so many stories like this that we fixate on as a society for a day, a week, a month, that have nothing to do with us or the progression of our society, but weve become accustomed to focusing on them. Its like the downfall of Rome, we have this obsession with all things sports and entertainment. I obviously love sports, I want to make a living in the field, but its these little things that we fixate on that show how strange weve become as a society. And I know Im as guilty of something like this some days, but I look at our society and how many people just sit around and gossip all day, while contributing nothing? More importantly, its one thing to not contribute, but its another situation entirely in that so many in our society arent even working to progress towards some kind of goal or better life? Its remarkably sad that our society and our government actually incentivizes people to live a life of no purpose. What makes me angry about the current state of America is the realization Ive come to recently as Ive begun to make a path for myself in life based on my passions, how many people will never know why they were put on this earth? How many people will never wake up in the morning with the same excitement that I feel each day? Thats one of my biggest issues with todays federal government, we incentivize people to live a life without meaning and thats the biggest theft of all, the theft of human potential.
