How many of us find ourselves telling stories about and assigning - TopicsExpress

How many of us find ourselves telling stories about and assigning names, labels, categories to the people in our lives--our friends, our perceived enemies, our neighbors, and them, those people, people like that--without ever really asking, inquiring, without ever really knowing the whole of it, the Truth of it, or even the truth of it FOR that or those persons? Being meaning-makers, our human minds certainly want to find comfort and resolution in jumping in and putting things into pre-existing boxes of our understanding, But as we know from the pain of being put into boxes by others, to know and be known by another person fully involves not delineating the person/situation via mere concepts/story-telling but actually presencing or being vastly open to the wholeness of what IS, and which can be known only beyond our prior (or any) framework. Where I have had seemingly little or less at stake (as with strangers), this has been easier to do. But where I have been deeply triggered, as with family or close friends, this has required a deep courage and vulnerability that I have rarely found myself exercising. Yet, it seems to me that a life of love, authenticity, and wholeness absolutely demands it.
