How mobile is your spine? Do you have lower back pain? Many - TopicsExpress

How mobile is your spine? Do you have lower back pain? Many people, myself included have a rigid thoracic portion of their spine, this is when stretching is a very good thing. Limited movement in your spine can put a lot of stress on the parts that then do move, in worst case scenario this can be a herniated disk, or in my case it was a sprain on the t3/t4 area of my spine where the rib meets the spine. Very painful I can tell you, but not as bad as it could have been. Thankful for that. This literally caused me to stop all hard training for 6 months, but using these simple mobility exercises and forms of activation I was able to get back in the gym and start pushing myself again. Some simple mobility exercises that are very useful - Side bends with hands on your head (like many people do for sit ups) - simply bend down to each side with your back as straight as possible. Perform for 20 seconds. Rotation - arms out in front of you, one hand resting on the other, turn quickly to one side and bounce 3 times, and repeat to the other side. Perform for 20seconds.
