How my client lost over 80 lbs and has kept it off. First I taught her over time that proper diet-psychology is about saying yes to food, not no. For every ten pounds she lost, she took a celebratory off-diet meal of anything of her choosing: She kept to regular meal times and realized that most of her 100 lbs weight-gain wasnt just because of what she was eating - but because she ate outside of meal times, all the time. Yes, she keeps her favorites in - hers are pies, cookies, cakes, red meat, wine and even Scotch - but these are now treats - not medication. She has finally stopped looking at her eating as dieting and now sees it as lifestyle. Its a choice, not a prison sentence -> Diet-psychology once again. And it took time with a lot of ups and downs during that time - the difference? - having Coaching to interrupt the self-hate when she stumbled. Now shes a healthy 142 lbs - 18 months ago she was well over 235 lbs - no stage, no contest, no photo-shoot - and no looking for the big end-game-number - just 10 lbs at a time - then celebrate. With this approach she gradually built up the belief that I can do this - and then she did! Congrats to her after a 25 years long struggle!
