How one views the person of Jesus Christ and the effect that view has on ones life is always interesting to me. Many scholars seem to see the historicity of Jesus ending at the crucifixion. Those who view the person of Christ dynamically in light of the resurrection and as a key to His identity are able to appreciate the historical person of Jesus (i.e. his Sermon on the Mount, his crucifixion, etc.) and appreciate the experience of the risen Christ in the history of the early Church rather than just acknowledging the empty tomb. Jesus still has that influence on the Church today.
