How refreshing it is to know that our incoming Foreign Minister had to actually turn down the usual comforts of her impending travel and accommodation being arranged by her own staff. Good move Ms Bishop! Now, if only our own Filipino diplomats can have the same discernment and start adopting similar cost-cutting measures when they travel or reside overseas in their missions. This is considering the fact that the Philippines is way down in the economic ladder compared to Australia and therefore, its political leaders and diplomats are deemed less able to afford luxurious travel and accommodations.
