How to Deal With Christian Sinners By Deirdre [August 5, 2013 7:53PM EST] Sin not only happens outside of the Church, it happens inside the Church every day. In the article The 3 Rs of Accountability: Repentance, Restitution, and personal Responsibility, Rev. Renee Pittelli says we can look at how God dealt with the Israelites for specific examples on how to deal with Christian sinners. Below are scripture that she points to that also provide guidance. Matthew 18:15-17 New International Version (NIV) Dealing With Sin in the Church 15 “If your brother or sister[a] sins,[b] go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over. 16 But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’[c] 17 If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector. Titus 3:10-11 New International Version (NIV) 10 Warn a divisive person once, and then warn them a second time. After that, have nothing to do with them. 11 You may be sure that such people are warped and sinful; they are self-condemned. 2 Timothy 3:2-5 New International Version (NIV) 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good,4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.
