How to Fix Our Communities If you care about knowledge and following the Sunnah, then the next time there is a fundraiser or election at your mosque ask the following questions: 1.). Do you follow the scholars? 2.) Which Scholarly body do you make reference to in decision making? 3.). Are you willing to work hard to bring to our masjid a qualified Imam/scholar/s to serve our religious needs, enlighten us and lead our community? 4.). Will you work to ensure that the imam is respected and receives the support he needs to do his job properly according to shariah? 5.) Do you think it is important for board members to attend the halaqas and learn the fiqh and religious knowledge? If the answer to any of the above questions is no or I dont know think twice about whether to donate your hard earned dollars or support so and sos election bid. Is he going to serve the Deen or the hawaa and desires of people? If all our community members follow this advice, change will come inshAllah. May Allah guide us to the straight path.
