All right, this is purely my own speculation as to the outcome of the Battle of the Five Armies: Thorin is gradually wounded in the battle. He fiercely fights Azog, but Azog has the upper hand(no pun intended LOL). Seeing Thorin is wounded, Fili and Kili rush to defend their uncle and are pierced by Orc arrows. A number of nearby Orcs rush to attack Fili and Kili and are stopped by some members of Thorins company, including Bombur and Bifur(Bifur who runs into and recognizes the Orc who left the remains of the axe in his forehead. Bifur epically kills the Orc. )Elsewhere Tauriel kills Bolg as Bolg is about to slice Legolas while his back is turned-hence saving Legolass life. With Fili and Kili laying mortally wounded, Azog moves to finish off Thorin and is swatted aside by Beorn in his bear-form and crushed. In the aftermath of the battle, Tauriel finds Kili and has a last moment with him before he dies in her arms. Make sense?
