Marge & I just enjoyed the supremely silly but visually intoxicating sf spectacle that is Richard Fleischers FANTASTIC VOYAGE (1966)—with Marges home-popped popcorn, natch. In fact, at the moment the intrepid microsurgeons entered the blood stream, Marge said: Stop the movie. I have to make popcorn. You can see why I love her so, so much. We dug how much of Edmond OBriens dialogue (what a time to run out of sugar!) was later copped for AIRPLANE!, and at how those antibodies went after Raquel Welch, requiring fleeting breast fondling to save her life. Fond memories of my Dad (who is now 90) taking me to see this at the Capital Theater in Montpelier, VT, when I was 11 years old (and the Capital was its old single-screen self). Its just as pleasing eye-candy today as it was then. Like James Landis THE SADIST (1962), FANTASTIC VOYAGE essentially unreels in real time once the miniaturization process begins. Id forgotten that!
