How to avoid falling off the fitness wagon. The weekend rolls - TopicsExpress

How to avoid falling off the fitness wagon. The weekend rolls around and you go to spend time with friends or family. You already know they are going to have fat laden appetizers, beers, pizza, burgers, chips with 17 layer dips, cookies, donuts, ice-cream, a bowl of candies and who knows what else. The anxiety hits because you know you have to be 100%. If you eat 1 brownie its going to turn into the whole pan. This thought process needs to stop! You dont have to be 100% or 0%, there is a grey area and that is called moderation. We just want that grey area to be more around the 80-90%, just like the grading system in school. Dont go in thinking you need to be perfect, just do your best. Have a beer, have a slice of pizza. Just make a plan before hand so that you dont over indulge. If you know these foods will be there, be prepared before hand, make a plan and say, I will have 1 beer. and then nurse it so it lasts. If you know you will have pizza or nachos or wings, set a limit. I will have 2 slices of pizza. I will have 15 chips. I will have 5 wings. This flexibility allows you to still enjoy those foods and the company youre with without causing harsh setbacks. Being moderate will still help you in reaching your overall goals. I understand that it can be difficult and that most of us have an all or nothing approach. The all or nothing mentality isnt realistic. There needs to be the grey areas and then use logic and reasoning. Do you need all of the 1,400 calorie slice of cheesecake? No. But there isnt anything wrong with 2-3 bites. Give yourself the predetermined portion and then get that food out of site. Then you will be less likely to fall off the wagon because you dont feel deprived and you have a plan.
