How to make Tomato Chatni? Cook 1 cup sugar with 2 cups of water to make 1 string syrup. Heat 1 tbsp oil; add 1 tbsp panch phoron and 2 whole red chillies. When seeds splutter, add 8 medium, quartered tomatoes and cook for 10 minutes. Add sugar syrup with little salt, 8-10 stoned & finely chopped dates & little water if required. Cook till dark red and thick. Add 1 tbsp tamarind pulp & mix. Grind 1 tbsp roasted panch phoron & sprinkle over the chutney.
