How to scare a really bad snake in the grass. It is interesting that just the flicker of a very small tongue can cause such great response from a little dog. On the other hand this snake was 2 1/2 times the length of my dog, so in proportion. How would I react to a snake in my back yard that was 18 feet long and flickering his tongue at me. We were digging up bulbs and planting potatoes when he showed up right beside my knee. Scared me to death. I think we destroyed his habitat. Hope he sticks around. I like his kind better than all the little critters that he will eat. Life is good.
