Aaron Holloway- New York Aba Acquaah- New York The group discussed the following agenda items: Planning the Upcoming Thursday, 8/1/13 Call • Time: The call would be held from 8:00 PM to 9:30. • Introductions: Participants would introduce themselves by stating their name, city/state, and affiliation • Moderator: There was a discussion on how we can moderate the call and restrict the number of speakers. Aba agreed to research a phone service and email Mitu the information for the service. At the end of the call, Aba located a service, FreeConferencing, she thinks will serve our needs. • Moderator for Call: Sandra Brown agreed to be moderator • Determining the Agenda – possible areas: • Review content of first conference call • Role of Executive Committee (EC) and an invitation to callers to join EC • Explain how EC formed and met to develop mission, vision, goals, and committees • Strategies to obtain participants’ views with a debate on the advantages and disadvantages on getting their views on conference call o Advantages: need to obtain stakeholder input; need to know potential supporters o Disadvantages: too many people on call for viable input, non-structured format would be unwieldy/disorganized, people wanting to remain anonymous • Setting questions to focus participant input and use an existing survey platform (e.g., Survey Monkey, Google poll) where participants could be anonymous. The poll should be short with 5 to 8 questions. It will be announced on the call, but posted for participates to complete immediately after the call. • Discuss the direction of the organization in areas of its organizational, functional, and legal relationship to Howard. • The EC should submit 5 to 8 possible questions for the next call. Aba said she could probably commit to helping with the logistics of setting up the survey if needed. • Talib recapped the agenda for the conference call on Sunday, 7/28/13 at 7:00 PM.
