Howard County Police Department has released a composite sketch of a suspect being sought for a rape and assault in a Columbia apartment complex last week. The reward in the case has been increased to up to $5,000, with a contribution from the apartment management company.The suspect is described as a black male with short dreadlocks or braids, approx. 2-3” in length, that are gold-colored or bleached. He has pronounced cheek bones and that the pigment of his cheeks appears darker than the rest of his face, which is described as a medium complexion. He is possibly in his 30’s or older, with a muscular, medium build. He was wearing black sweatpants and no shirt. Police have increased patrols in the area and are reminding residents to take personal safety precautions. As always, it is best to keep all doors and windows locked. Be on guard if approached by a stranger and call police about anything suspicious.
