Howdy, howdy. Already know a couple of yall from Food Babes Twitter feed -Im BioWonk- and from various groups that defend the science of vaccines and GMOs. Working as a science educator at the Pacific Science Center in Seattle gives me opportunities to teach people how and why so many of Food Babes assertions are inaccurate, disingenuous and just plain vindictively misinformative. I sneak in messages about misusing the word toxins when I explain why its safe to touch our anemones. As well, when I do our interactive Germs cart presentation, I use the bacterium and virus props to explain how insulin was once produced with GMO e.coli and now GMO mammals. This provides a take-away message that, like the microbes, not all transgenic products are automatically bad or dangerous, and some people depend on them for their quality of life.
