January 28, 2014 Job 42:7-9, “After the LORD had spoken these words to Job, the LORD said to Eliphaz the Temanite: “My wrath is kindled against you and against your two friends; for you have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has. Now therefore take seven bulls and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you, for I will accept his prayer not to deal with you according to your folly; for you have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has done.” So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went and did what the LORD had told them; and the LORD accepted Job’s prayer.” Mighty God, Father of all creation, our Redeemer and Savior we awaken this day and thank you for another day in your Holy Presence that we may serve you and our neighbor. Father with grateful and humble hearts we bow before you with thanksgiving for our salvation through the eternal life-giving blood of Jesus, your Son. Father this morning as we think on these words revealing Job’s relationship with you and his ‘friends’ give us the clarity of insight and panorama to recognize and understand your Truth through Jesus our Savior. Turn us away from those who continually dilute your Word, your desire and your intention for your creation. Let us begin this day to pray for those who are afraid to speak your Truth in the presence of satan’s haughtiness, his minions and political pawns and those, through media means, subvert the souls and your Holy Word in the hearts of the young and old alike. Destroy satan’s message and return the fallen and apostate to your Presence, redeemed in Jesus’ blood. Hear our prayers this day for all who have had or are facing surgery, treatment, rehabilitation and procedures this day. Heal those who are ailing; are weakened by disease and infirmity. Comfort those who’ve lost loved ones and mourn this day. Give your gentle, steady call to those who are coming to you that their hearts may be calm and joyous in their new life with you. Bless those who teach and those who learn. Protect those in mission fields far and near as they call many to Jesus and salvation. Revile those who persecute your Church and restore the courage and conviction to your people that they shall go boldly into this broken world and offer salvation as never before. Break the hold of the haughty, self-righteous and evil on the vulnerable and those who lust for power, wealth and authority. Remove from office those who make themselves the desolating sacrilege and blasphemously lay claim to your authority. Turn back the wayward and restore the fallen. Uplift the weary and worn. Lead us to the least, last and lost that we may be servants in your ministry. Keep safe, bless and protect the men and women who serve in our military, police, fire, protective, emergency and medical services throughout our land and the world and their loved ones as they serve. These things spoken and unspoken we ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
