Kidman would be replacing Gwyneth Paltrow in the film, joining Julia Roberts and Chiwetel Ejiofor in the English-language remake of the Argentinian thriller which won the Best Foreign Language Oscar in 2009. The original film featured two male leads and one female lead, but Billy Ray, who wrote the English remake and will direct, reconceived the characters and gender-swapped one of the roles specifically for Roberts.
