Hubbard Police are proud to announce the hiring of 2 new Auxiliary Police Officers. Roger Gillum and Mariah Snyder were sworn in earlier today by Mayor John Darko. This young man and this young woman will be a great addition to our agency and our community. The officers were chosen from several applicants because they represent the qualities that we at the Hubbard PD hold dear: Professionalism, competence, character, and a profound sense of community. They will be assigned to a Field Training Officer for some time in order to acclimate them to our workplace. Please join us in welcoming the to Hubbard PD! Roger Gillum- Roger is a graduate of the OPOTA Basic Police Academy at KSU in April 2014 and has earned a BS in Applied Science, majoring in Criminal Justice from Youngstown State University. Roger is employed at the Trumbull County Juvenile Justice Center and has a terrific track record of being involved with young people. Roger has mentored local youth in the Youngstown City School Systems through reading, tutoring, and sports education. He was a football camp instructor at the Rich Center for Autism, and is currently the strength and conditioning coach at Liberty Public Schools. Roger is an exceptional athlete, earning a football scholarship to Youngstown State University where he was a two year Collegiate Varsity Football Letterman Mariah Snyder - Mariah is a graduate of the OPOTA Basic Police Academy at YSU in June 2013, serving as her Class Commander, and has earned a BS in Applied Science, majoring in Criminal Justice from Youngstown State University. Mariah is currently employed as a Deputy Sheriff at the Mahoning County Sheriffs Office. Much like Roger, Mariah is also an exceptional athlete, earning a soccer scholarship to Youngstown State University where she was named YSU Womens Soccer Team Captain in 2009-2010. While at YSU, she was named to the Honor Roll and served as a member of the NCAA Student Athlete Advisory Committee as well as the YSU Womens Soccer Leadership Committee. Mariah was an Assistant soccer coach at Boardman High School and enjoyed mentoring and teaching the kids soccer tactics and skills. As you can see, these are two excellent additions to our police department. Were proud to have them in our law enforcement family and welcome them to HPD. When you encounter them in local businesses or the schools as they complete their FTO Training, make it a point to say hello. We think youll agree with us that Roger and Mariah are exceptional people and outstanding additions to our community. Welcome Mariah and Roger!
