Within the first ten minutes the Rovers keeper had made fine saves from Tara Duce twice and Lauren Bullock but she was not helped by her own defence who managed to set up Amy Broomhead inside the six yard box after four minutes who gave Town the lead. After 14 minutes Imogen Pow’s long range shot fell kindly to Ella Harris who doubled the lead and 10 minutes later Rose Priestley and Duce combined well on the left hand side, a series of interchanged passes allowed the former to score. The fourth came on 27 minutes as Bullock was allowed to turn on the edge of the area and finish well and three minutes later Broomhead scored her second with a left foot shot that just evaded the keeper. Town continued to press and scored twice more before half time, first captain Laura Walker’s perfect pass was well controlled and finished by Bullock. Then Ellie Womersley, who was combining well with Walker on the right and causing problems to the visiting defence with her pace claimed her first goal of the season. Half time 7-0. The second half was once again dominated by Town but a combination of wasteful finishing and good goalkeeping restricted them to a further three goals, all scored by Harris. The first came just two minutes into the half when she was given plenty of time to punish some poor defending. The girls then eased off and were content to dominate possession and pass the ball around with Isobel Pare in the Town goal a virtual spectator and Isobel Boothroyd (on her 50th start for the girls), Pow and Olivia Tetley in defence well in control. Pow had a long range shot come back off the woodwork 12 minutes into the half but it wasn’t until 20 minutes to go that Harris completed her hat-trick, her 50th goal for Town and her 51st came 13 minutes later when she headed in a perfect Jodie Lodge cross from close range. Town continued to make chances but the Rovers keeper kept them at bay with more fine saves and Walker hit the post with a header from another Lodge cross. Star Player Broomhead was unlucky with late chances but the final whistle came without any addition to the score. Next for the girls is a trip to Sheffield FC as they begin the defence of their league cup.
