Human Compassion Versus Gods Compassion... This topic has been stirring in my heart. When dealing with acts of compassion it helps to know the source and thus the full results of the compassion that humans can operate under. For, example, is the giving that results in compassion human-inspired or God-Inspired? How involved is God in our compassion? Are we seeking His will in our giving? We know that giving, for example to someone in need is generally good from a human standpoint. But what if we do not listen to Gods voice in this? If we ask Him, he may say no for reasons that we do not understand; we may go ahead and still, give, or help in some way against His will or do the same (and not ever know His will, if we fail to even ask for His input in the matter). God knows the full fruit of our compassion in giving. He may be working something out in a needy brother or sisters life and our compassion can ruin that process. Secondly, people in the world that do not know God will be doing more and more in works of compassion in the future in building the worldly, secular church movement. They will look like us and may even act like us but the they will be operating in another spirit. We will need to look at, as Jesus told us, the fruit of all of this giving and ministry. Gods heart of compassion and giving supersedes what the world can do and we need to be sensitive to HIS voice in these matters so that our giving and other acts of compassion such as volunteerism will have the full impact that God intends and that the fruit of our obedience will not be burned up during the Judgement Seat (Bema) of Christ. Second Corinthians 5:10 tells us, “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.” In the context, it is clear that both scriptures are referring to Christians, not unbelievers. The judgment seat of Christ, therefore, involves believers giving an account of their lives to Christ. Let me know your thoughts...Blessings
