Human Vultures - There are three homeless guys who constantly loiter in front of the Texaco at the corner of Pacific Ave and Cowlitz Way here in Kelso. They always ask for money after people have already looked at them and passed them. Its become a problem as I frequent that shop often. People have noticed them taking photos of each other with their iphones. At one point they had a story as to why they needed the money but now theres no reason at all. Its like they know the clientele of the establishment are on to their bullshit. Its become so bad that Ive resorted to swapping out, No, I dont give people money with Ask me again and Ill take you down. These people are panhandling in a city where its been made illegal. You folks in Longview that are annoyed with the sea of beggars in the shopping center / Panda Express parking lot can thank Kelso for sending their problem your way. However, the group I deal with didnt get the message or just straight up dont care. This kills me. Absolutely kills me. These guys are using brand new phones, laughing when theyre not putting on their puppy eyes and theyre getting away with it. The folks who run the Texaco simply dont give a shit. People need to stop giving these guys money. Homelessness is a problem. Starving people need to be fed. Ragged people need to be clothed. But folks who prey on peoples good intentions are making it hard to tell whos in need and whos pecking at societys financial carcass. So consider this a public notice... Stop giving these beggars your money. If you want to help the truly needy, donate to charity. Maybe if we stop giving these guys a more-than-minimum-wage pay for standing around, theyll leave. And maybe we can do it before I get into an altercation with one of them. This post goes out to you, Kevin.
