Human decency is alive and well in Whitwell, Tenn. (pop. 1600) - TopicsExpress

Human decency is alive and well in Whitwell, Tenn. (pop. 1600) where not so long ago Middle School kids there began a project to commemorate the six million Jews killed by the Nazis during WW II, by collecting six million paper clips from various sources. That eventually involved people from all over Europe and America, including Holocost survivors, the acquisition of one of the railroad cattle cars used to transport European Jews to the death camps. The cattle car is now installed on school property in Whitwell and is visited by thousands annually. With a hauntingly beautiful musical score by Allison Krauss, Paper Clips is on DVD from Hart Sharp video. Well worth the time and trouble to find.
