Human rights are moral principles that set out certain standards of human behaviour, and are regularly protected as legal rights in national and international law. They are commonly understood as inalienable fundamental rights to which a person is inherently entitled simply because she or he is a human being. Our constitution is one of the most comprehensive worldwide..but how well do we actually know our constitution, think about what is right and wrong according to the law not assumption or opinion, take action versus complaining and pointing fingers at government rather than taking responsibility ourselves...how much do we apply in practice daily? Have we abdicated our part in making South Africa a country where we realise a better life for all its people when we think only about our own lives and we continue to behave without accountability? Let us reflect on on what human rights actually means in the context of our country and what we each must do to honour in practice what so many before us struggled, sacrificed & fought for in this land sahrc.org.za
