Humankind has the technology, science, reason, ingenuity, and power the likes of which has never been seen before. However those things are trivial, at least in my mind, compared to the treatment of people by other people. There is too much hatred in the world and not enough understanding, too much control and not enough freedom, and there is definitely too much sadness and not enough love. I guess that is human nature though because odds are if you are taught something bad enough times you will believe it as the truth and the only way to break that vicious cycle is to teach the next generation the good.
