Humbled today as 3 of the poorest (materially speaking) brothers from 3 different villages showed up to offer their condolences for dad. Besides the financial aspect (no extra resources lying around for bush taxi fares to Niamey) the timing is extremely difficult as harvesting is in full swing. However, these brothers wanted to honor me and they wanted to honor dad. They could offer nothing except their presence and their hope to see dad again one day. The greatest thing was they didnt just offer the mandatory response when someone has lost someone. Instead, they shared their condolences through the lens of their hope in Christ and the comfort of His Holy Spirit. So incredible to see these men who just a few years ago knew no such hope and assurance were even possible have now been so transformed by the Gospel that theyve become conduits of His grace!
