Hundred of millions of dollars have been spent nationally and in the various stats to misrepresent facts and confuse. Half of the politicians of the country have sold their souls to oppose it. Put it together and the campaign to disrupt and confuse has a big leg up. The people, themselves, are going to have to wise up. What is most strange is the response the public gives to the individual parts of the affordable care act. The public, democrat or republican, overwhelmingly support the extension of medicare to cover more families in poverty. Overwhelming support insurance companies not being allowed to create artificial lifetime caps on coverage, or dropping individuals because of their change in medical status, or denying coverage to people with preexisting conditions, or allowing young people to age 26 to stay on parental plans, and providing insurance coverage to millions who did not previously have coverage. The level of support for each of these parts of the health care act is incredible. So what is left that causes such in fighting? Just the hundreds of millions of dollars spent confusing those issues with the enactment itself. Republicans have linked their brand to big corporations, to insurance companies, to big oil, to no regulation, to hating government, to eliminating environmental protections, to removing all programs for the benefit of the people themselves, like Social Securty, Medicare, medicaid, food stamps, veterans benefits, and student loans. There is no amount of taxpayer money spent on the average taxpayer, themselves, that republicans support. They do however, support all forms of subsidy to the rich and to corporations.
