Huntsville Utilities crews are responding to a string of outages that follow a line from Northwest to Southeast Madison County resulting from a line of severe thunderstorms that moved through the area earlier this evening. Frequent lightning and gusty winds caused scattered small outages beginning in the Harvest-Monrovia area, and continuing south and east in areas along Highway 53, into downtown Huntsville, and on into the Hampton Cove/Big Cove area along Highway 431 to New Hope. https://hsvutil.org/outagemap/ The largest of these outages is in Southeast Huntsville in the Hampton Cove/Big Cove area. Early estimates of total customers without power at this time is approximately 9,000 customers. Crews will have power restored as quickly and safely as possible.
