Hurriyat condemns Masrat’s continuous detention By » [ GNS/Kashmir Headlines] Srinagar, Sep 24:Strongly condemning the continuous detention of incarcerated Muslim League leaders Masrat Alam Bhat, Mushtaq-ul-Islam and Shakeel Ahmad Bhat All Parties Hurriyat Conference termed it an act of “state terrorism” and blot to Omar Abdullah led administration. “Public Safety Act (PSA) was slapped more than ten times over the said leaders, the administration is fabricating them in false cases to justify their detention,” Hurriyat Conference spokesman Ayaz Akbar in a statement issued to Global News Service (GNS) on Tuesday alleged. He said though Amnesty International and other human rights groups have declared it (PSA) a “Lawless Law” it still continues. “Though Amnesty International and various other human rights groups have directed authorities to abolish the Act, however it is still in force and is used to suppress the political opponents.” “The intelligence agencies are taking revenge against Hurriyat leader Masrat Alam Bhat for his prominent role in people’s uprising in 2010; that is the main reason they fabricate him in false cases and prolong his detention,” Ayaz added. Ayaz while commenting over the detention of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leader Mohammad Shaban Dar said that the leader was arrested and detained on the directions of a pro-Indian leader. “He was arrested on baseless allegations and his detention is unjustified.” The Hurriyat spokesman said that Indian forces butchered three civilians in a fake encounter which was followed by brutal killing of innocent students including Wamiq Farooq, Zahid Farooq, Inayat Ullah and Tufail Matoo. “Masarat Aalam while taking a lead role in representing the aspirations of people-led freedom movement against these killings emerged as “a symbol of resistance”. That is why the Indian intelligence agencies made an all-out bid to take revenge and arrested him.” Ayaz Akbar said we salute Alam’s courage and determination. “How long will this Jungle law prevail and how long will authorities incarcerate him,” he said, adding the tall claims of India to be a great democracy are mere hoax. While commenting over the continued detention of Mir Hafiz Ullah, spokesman said the leader has emerged as a popular figure in Islamabad as compared to pro-Indian politicians. “He is having a good following. People trust and follow him with sincere heart.” Terming Mushtaq-ul-Islam a leader with exemplary character, Ayaz said Mushtaq remained associated with movement since his childhood days. “His persistence and commitment with movement is for all times to come and he never gave up courage.” Paying respect to Shakeel Ahmad Bhat of Fateh Kadal for his pro-freedom activities Akbar lauded his active role for movement in Srinagar (Shahr-e-Khaas). “His photograph was published in several international newspapers and magazines and he earned name as “rash boy’’. The state police and their masters are annoyed with him; that is why he is being kept in illegal detention since long.” Hurriyat Conference while emphasizing the immediate release of these leaders urged Amnesty International to take serious notice about the grim and volatile situation in Kashmir. It also urged them to use their diplomatic influence to highlight the prevailing lawlessness and ensure the immediate release of the incarcerated leaders.
