Huun Huur Tu is a quartet from Tuva who practice traditional Mongolian Throat Singing, which is a way of singing with two pitches: A low drone sung with the normal voice and on top, an overtone from the throat which sounds a bit like a flute. Their music mostly has themes of the Mongolain steppe, vast plains and sky, horses, nature, etc. I had the pleasure of seeing them live at the Shanghai International Music Festival today!! They were so amazing I had to put together a small highlights video for you guys with my phone. I became a huge fan in high school and their music has always given me such a calm feeling every time I listen to it that nothing else really can. It was particularly special for me as I never dreamed Id actually be able to see them perform someday!
