Hwa Beng claims sacked for starting Soi Lek revolt: KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 4 — Datuk Lee Hwa Beng said today he believes his sacking from MCA could have been aimed at nipping his plan to topple Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek from the party presidency. The party strongman said he had started the “ABC” or “Anything but Chua Soi Lek” movement on October 1, armed with the belief that the embattled party president should be held responsible for MCA’s staggering Election 2013 losses. “I go back to MCA to topple Chua Soi Lek because it is a disgrace not only to MCA but to Chinese community. He should take responsibility for loss of so many seats,” Lee told a news conference at the Lakeview Club in Subang Jaya today. “I was contacting a lot of division leaders in Selangor to start a movement called Anybody But Chua Soi Lek. “I was gathering support in Selangor and other states. So I believed he must have got news of this thing and he sacked me immediately,” he said. He added that the use of Lim Kit Siang’s name as the reason behind his purported sacking had merely been a ruse to distract from the actual reason for booting him. When announcing his alleged sacking on Twitter yesterday, Lee had said that he was told the reason was because he had invited the DAP veteran for the launch of his whistleblowing book on the multi-billion ringgit Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) scandal, titled “PKFZ: A Nation’s Trust Betrayed” last year. “Just heard @drchuaSL just sacked me as an MCA member. Am honored as he see me as a threat once I was voted in as a national delegate,” the former Port Klang Authority (PKA) chairman wrote on his Twitter account @hwabeng. “Was told I was sacked as MCA member 4 inviting @limkitsiang 2 launch my PKFZ bk.But why now?Must b when I was elected a nat delegate last wk,” he added in a series of tweets in reply to a bombardment of questions. But Lee, who was formerly the Port Klang Authority (PKA) chairman, said today that he would not be appealing the sacking, as he did not want to return to MCA as long as Dr Chua continues helming it. When asked whether he would join other political parties, Lee said he was keeping his options open and said he will continue his hobby of climbing mountains. MORE TO COME dlvr.it/44hysG
