I AM GOING TO DO A RANT HERE BECAUSE ALL OF YOU SHOULD BE AWARE OF HOW YOU PAY FOR CAR INSURANCE MEDICAL COVERAGE THAT YOU CANT EVEN USE WHEN YOU NEED IT!!! The teenager who hit me--he was fooling around with his girlfriend while behind me at a stoplight intersection when he hit me with his huge truck just as I was moving into a right turn into an intersection lane--his mothers car insurance did cover the mess of fixing my poor car whose trunk, bumper, license plate, and license plate cover were destroyed and the car frame pushed to the left. However, my car insurance medical claims adjuster from USAA (my car insurance carrier)--which is a very famous, very large insurance company that ex-military veterans or active duty military are covered by, advised me to use my car insurance medical coverage to cover my expenses for a back specialist, physical therapy, etc., so the VA didnt need to be in the picture at that time. I soon found out that NO orthopedic doctor will see you if you have been injured in a car accident and try to use your car insurance medical coverage to pay for your medical bills!!!! You tell the orthopedic doctor that all they need to do is send your medical bills directly to your car insurance medical claims adjuster and the doctor will be paid by them directly, but they call it third party payment and refuse to take it. Two reasons I can think of for this, car insurance companies werent paying doctors in a timely manner in the past so it gave car insurance payments a bad name to the doctors (you know how money-hungry doctors are and want to be paid quickly for their services) and many auto accident injured victims get an attorney to make a monetary settlement for pain and suffering with the persons car insurance who hit you and you may sue the person who hit you personally too. Being an RN, I can see why a doctor wouldnt want to have to deal with an attorney. Also, if you didnt think the doctor was helping take care of your injury properly, you could sue them. When I get time, I am going to look over my car insurance policy for medical payments again and maybe decrease my coverage because I am paying for something I cant even use and cant afford to pay for if it doesnt cover me. I ADVISE YOU ALL TO LOOK AT YOUR CAR INSURANCE MEDICAL COVERAGE AND QUESTION YOUR CAR INSURANCE COMPANY AS TO WHY YOU ARE PAYING FOR INSURANCE COVERAGE YOU CANT EVEN USE WHEN YOU NEED IT!!!! WE ALWAYS THINK OUR CAR INSURANCE WILL COVER US BECAUSE WE PAY FOR IT, BUT THINK AGAIN!
