I AM HAPPPY TO BE BACK , FIRED UP AND READY TO GO! Hello Kajiado County, I hope you all had a wonderful festive season. Mine too was A1. May i once more welcome you to a brand new year, 2015! 2014 was a very challenging year for all us. First we were faced with a severe drought that saw most cattle from our county move out to other counties in search of enough pasture and water. Thousands succumbed to the ravaging drought which in turn have diminished family incomes. Our country too also faced a lot of insecurity challenges with several lives lost as a result. Joseph ole Lenku- the man at the helm of the security docket became a casualty. He was dropped from the cabinet and up to now his fate is not known. Joseph Kasaine ole Nkaiserry was susequently appointed and i wish to take this late opportunity to wish him well in his new assignment. 2015 is only 5 days old. There is need for all of us to consolidate the gains weve made both as a nation and at the county level. I am proud to say, Kajiado County has made remarkable strides despite the hiccups experienced at the beginning. Both arms of the County Government; the Executive and the Assembly have finally agreed, at least in principle to work together for the common good of the residents of this great county. The kind of tiffs and barbs we witnessed between the governor and the MCAs at the formative stages of the CG have slowly died. It was heartwarming to see the Executive led by the governor grace the County Assemblys open day. The MCAs have in turn been turning up, although not in large numbers to functions organised by the Executive. This is what the residents wants to see- a harmonious relationship between these two critical institutions. I must commend the County Assembly leadership for endevouring to be transparent and accountable to the residents of Kajiado County. I am happy to note the Assembly, by all definition, is digital. They were the first to install a high speed internet, Wi-Fi to be used by the MCAs and staff. Kajiado County Assembly compound is thus, a hotspot. They also run an interactive Kajiado County Assembly Facebook wall. The Assembly must however, learn to keep its promises. During the open day, the Assembly announced that theyll be holding a session of the house, the last before christmas break i guess, at Ewuaso Kedong open air market. This has never happened and no explanation was given as to why this event never took place. I am told this open session is among the things the Assembly learnt during some of their trips abroad. I want to put the Public Relations Officer, Olarro Luke Ole Ndilai on the spot over this matter. The Executive too deserves a pat on their shoulders for the wonderful work theyve done so far even though much is expected of them. I want to specially mention two people; Hon Ali Letura and Hon Gladys Marima. These two members of the County Executives have proved beyond doubt they merited the positions theyve been appointed. Ali in his short stint at the education docket have turned around the fortunes of the existing village vocational training cenbtres. We have seen an upsurge in the number of enrolment and the once desolate and dilapidated structures roaring back to life. I still do not know how he have overlooked Najile Vocational Training Centre. The Professional Forums initiated by Marimas office too, have turned out to be a huge success. The other CECs must pull up their socks. Let me remind the governor, H.E Dr. Nkedianye that he is under obligation by law to give a State of the County Address. This is an important event where the governor will outline his government policies and development priorities to the residents. This has not happened. I expect him to give this event the seriousness it deserves.Overral, our prospects look good. Let us all join hands in building our great county. As someone recently wrote on Facebook, we have a new book with 365 blank pages. Today, there are only 360 pages left. How can we use them optimally for our opersonal and county good? Finally and most importantly, the last time i checked, the MP for Kajiado North Constituency , Hon Joseph Manje have been flown out of the country for specialised treatment after he sustained serious neck injuries during demonstrations at Ngong town. I would like to ask each of you to pray for him for quick recovery. Let us not also forget the constituents who may not be getting services because their representative at Bunge was hospitalised.
