“I Can’t Bless You Til I Test You!” Genesis 22:1-17 - TopicsExpress

“I Can’t Bless You Til I Test You!” Genesis 22:1-17 Abraham knew God’s voice. In the passage, each time God spoke to Him, he did not hesitate to say “Here I am.” He did not hesitate to make the sacrifice. Abraham knew that God had proven Himself over and over so when God spoke, Abraham listened. God knew how precious Isaac was to Abraham and He tested him to see if Isaac was more precious to Abraham than God. Abraham was willing to sacrifice his precious son, but God had a ram in the bush. In our waiting, we sometimes feel like God will not do what He said…but God wants us to know that He cannot bless us until He tests us! It is important for us to learn to hear God’s voice. He will test us with things that may seem ridiculous to us, so we must know when He is speaking. Our blessings are not just for us. God wants to give us our own seed. He gives seed to the sower. We have to plant seeds in others so that our blessings can carry on. Seeds bring life. God wants to bless our seed so that we can bless others. When God speaks on a Spiritual Level, we have to tune our ears to His voice and tune out the sounds of natural things. God wants to know that He can trust us. He tests us to see if we are listening to Him. He listens to us BUT we have to learn to hear Him. We have to learn to have faith. We have to learn to trust God. Once we have waited and God gives us what we desire…what do we do next? Do we stop praying and praising God? God gives us tests to determine our level of maturity. God does not just want to multiply; He desires to take our blessings to the next power. He wants to take our faith to the next power. In knowing God’s voice, we also must know His Word. What we hear must line up with the Word. God tests us to see what we love more than Him. He wants to know what is more precious to us than Him. Our worship is our response to the blessings that God has given us. In order to focus on the blessings and worship God with a pure and sincere heart, we must monitor what enters our gate. The gate is where decisions are made. The gate is where everything takes place. We have to be certain that everything does not come through our gate. The gate is a place of testing and trying. We have to use our gate to regulate and control what flows in and out of our minds. If stuff is tricking our minds, we have to check our gate. We have to be watchmen and gatekeepers. We have to pray before the battles come so that we can control the flow of what gets through the gate. ~Elder James Ransome @ GNHCM Bible Study 5/14/2014
