I Cor. 13:5-Charity...seeketh not her own... We come to the seventh term Paul uses to describe love. The idea is not selfish, self-seeking, or self-serving. Putting the glory of the Kingdom and the needs and cares of others before ones self. Paul gives the spirit if this in I Cor. 10:33-Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved. Paul also shares the beautiful spirit of a Christian in Phil. 2:3-Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than themselves. When you and I got saved, we surrendered the throne of our lives to Jesus. Its not all about us any more. Its about Him and others. As we put Him first, and serve others, we in turn receive far greater blessing and joy, than if we lived for ourselves and our interests. Our real joy is found in total surrender and sacrificial service. Thats how love works. John Wesley states it-...Ease, pleasure, honour, or temporal advantage. Nay, sometimes the lover of mankind seeketh not, in some sense, even his own spiritual advantage; does not think of himself, so long as a zeal for the glory of God and the souls of men swallows him up. Love is not primarily a noun, but a verb. It is active in its worship of God and service to others. Have you found the immeasurable joy of knowing Jesus, serving Him, and serving others? May we all today resound the words of the psalmist in Psa. 40:8-I delight to do Thy will, O my God... Hallelujah!
