I Enjoyed Beating United – Osaze -As Omeruo Debuts For Middlesbrough New arrival at Stoke City of England, Peter Osaze Odemwingie has confessed that he took a lot of delight in being part of The potters’ squad that dented Manchester United with a 2-1 spanking on Saturday, but the former West Bromwich Albion and Cardiff City star admitted it was not too easy for him playing as a winger during the encounter. Stoke boss, Mark Hughes deployed Osaze in an unfamiliar wide role, but the forward, who has also played for La Louviere of Belgium, Lille Metropole of France and Lokomotiv Moscow of Russia, said his teammates made the transition easier for him. Osaze further said Saturday’s win over United was a perfect way to mark his home debut for Stoke, as the 32-year-old out-of-favour Super Eagles attacker had made his debut against Sunderland in midweek. Following his bow away to The Black Cats in midweek, Osaze marked his first home appearance by helping Stoke to a first ever English Premier League win over United, with success recorded on the evening at Britannia Stadium. It is the first time I have heard of Stoke City beating Manchester United so it makes this victory even more special and we just need to build on this. We know that in the table everyone is so close to each other. Every point can take you up or send you down so what makes this victory very special is that maybe people didnt expect us to win. It felt great, Ive played here a couple of times before but todays support was fantastic. I felt welcome from the first day I came here and to start with a victory here on my home debut feels really good. The managers speech (before the game) was very inspiring. If we keep going like this we are going to achieve everything we want this season. Im happy to play anywhere up front in the line. But I had to do it for the team and I am grateful to my team-mates for encouraging me to do that. They were always there for me and I hope things will continue in the same way,” a delighted Osaze beamed. Same evening in England, this time the lower-flight Championship, Africa Cup of Nations revelation, Kenneth Omeruo finally made his long-awaited debut for Middlesbrough. The 20-year-old Omeruo, who is on loan at The Riverside from English Premier League side, Chelsea, started for Boro against Doncaster Rovers at right fullback and not in his usual central defence position. The game at Doncaster finished in a goalless draw with Omeruo posting a decent shift for the entire duration, thereby making up for previous blights, when he was an unused substitute in the last two matches for Middlesbrough, who are now 12th on the table with 38 points from 29 matches.
