I FINALLY started watching a movie directed by a longtime friend, Lav Diaz, and co-written by a theater colleague Rody Vera, “Norte, the End of History. This film was a hit in 2013 Cannes. The first few minutes though are consumed with discourses about political theory, historical inaccuracies, and philosophical treatises. And this movie is 4-hour long? I will definitely finish this movie—but when I finally get a chance to see Lav and Rody again, Ill rest the heavy discussion, and just offer to cook them the best paella there is, chased down by the best beer in the universe, San Miguel Cerveza! I have aged, I guess. I just want to write and leave my son and daughters the high-handed intellectual joust as I play dinosaurs and ninjas with my grandkids.
