I LITERALLY JUST GOT HOME FROM BUYING ONLY KHAKI PANTS AND BLACK POLOS - which was supposed to be the new uniform policy for Meade Middle !!!!!!!! Hello Meade Middle School Parents, this is Christine DeGuzman, newly appointed principal of Meade Middle. As a former Meade Middle School teacher, I am extremely excited to be returning to this community and I look forward to continuing and strengthening the tradition of preparing our students for a bright future. I wanted to send along a few notes to help you prepare for the start of the school year. A generic school supply list is available at local stores and will be included in the first newsletter. Please note that the list is very basic and teachers may ask for a few, simple additions. In response to challenges in finding appropriate school uniforms, we are reinstating the uniform policy that was in place last year. This means black, navy blue, and tan bottoms and black, navy blue, and light blue polos are acceptable. For more specific details about the uniform, please refer to the upcoming school newsletter. On Saturday, August 16th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Meade Middle School will be the site of the Back-to-School Bash. Anne Arundel County Public Schools’ Office of School and Family Partnerships is partnering with two churches to provide food, games, and other fun activities, as well as information about AACPS services. We encourage you to bring your children and take advantage of this wonderful opportunity. An orientation for incoming 6th graders and students new to Meade Middle will be held on Thursday, August 21st from 6 to 7 pm. I will be available for a brief Meet-and-Greet at 5:30 for any parents who would like to learn a little about me. Finally, I would like parents to consider joining Meade Middle’s PTA. This is an invaluable group and I hope to increase participation so that we can better serve the needs of our students and the school community. More information will follow in the newsletter, on Orientation Night, and on Back-to-School Night on September 16th.
