I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS VET!!!! Okay...so, yes, he too thinks it is most probably a brain tumor..probably near the vestibular portion of the brainstem (hows THAT for an audiologists dog!).HOWEVER, he said that there ARE TREATMENT OPTIONS!!!! And on top of that, AGE should NOT be a factor!!! As far as whether or not it is cancer: He said maybe, maybe not...there are plenty of brain tumors that are benign. But they are space occupying lesions and eventually grow and exert pressure on nearby structures. Okay I know all that...but then I told him why I asked...I told him what my vet said and he was basically aghast....He couldnt believe she told me to just put him down. He started Rocky on dexamethasone to see if he responds. And even if we cannot cure the tumor (if it really is indeed a tumor), we do have treatment options to prolong AND improve quality of life! He has given me information...options...and most of all, hope. And hes cute to boot ;-)
