I LOVE this sentiment. I am sickened by the level of hate and lies that are going back and forth over this man’s tragedy. Where is our compassion, where is our decency, how have we strayed so far from the people that we once were… kind, generous, thoughtful; all lost in the wake of a political machine. How and why have we allowed the politics of our time to become so hate filled? I remember when we were a country of pride in our presidency and our political structure. We did not throw stones at each other’s houses because ours could be made of glass too. I am imploring all of you to raise your minds and your hearts above all of the rhetoric that surrounds the office of the presidency today and try to remember who and what we were before “mud-slinging” became the norm. I am speaking about BOTH sides here. We are losing our country in this battle between our political parties, we the American people are on a path to self-destruction if we cannot or will not stop and use our critical thinking skills and our conscious as a guide. I have heard, read, and researched both sides of this story and to be honest; I can no longer tell fact from fiction. I say let’s take a moment, catch our breaths, and remember this is a living breathing person here and he has endured more than any of us will ever know and has a perspective none of us can imagine. Until we walk a mile in his shoes we should hold our judgment and opinions. Let’s stop making this homecoming about politics and make it about humanities ability to endure, survive, and flourish when met with adversity and start moving toward a UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. The last time I checked we were all still Americans, one nation under God, indivisible with justice and liberty for all… Ask yourself this question… are you affording this young man the opportunity to tell his side before offering judgment; because if you are you just went against our nation and even God’s directive.
