I MISSED AN *IMPORTANT* ANNIVERSARY! I should have known, because SHE has been telling me ALL DAY. On September 3rd, 2012, Jeanmarie Kautzman delivered something I had NEVER seen, in person, before (though I had seen pictures of them since 1970), to my doorstep. A smooth (think Lassie with a naturally short coat) collie, named Echo. (Named for the Canadian militarys part in the peace keeping mission in Kosovo) Originally, I was supposed to be her foster parent, only. Thanks to the vagaries of the life-span of non-profit organizations, she is MY little girl. ... With ALL that entails, both ways. --- She is one of most affectionate (once you understand her) animals I have EVER owned. Once you understand her body language, she is the most talkative animal I have ever owned. ... AND she wants to converse with you, along those lines. --- And SMART! The trainer we work with, who specializes in Collies, says she is WICKED smart. Her breeder, who specializes in breeding Collies for service dog/obedience/agility says that Echo is one of the TOP 2 DOGS she has EVER HAD ... the other being Echos Grandmother, Vilmi. ... Her TOP dog! Echo is over 2 years old now. But here is her with her breeder. The breeder is trying to demonstrate the training method of luring. ...
