‘I SHALL NOT WANT’ “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not - TopicsExpress

‘I SHALL NOT WANT’ “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.”- Ps. 23:1 (Authorized KJV) This evening, we just want to look briefly at the perfect promise and plenteous provision of the Father for his children. From here, we understand that the LORD is the shepherd of as many that have accepted his Lordship, thus, this undeniable promise is not a benefit accrued to sinners. From here, we discover that God is not just our Saviour but ought to also be our LORD. He ought to guide and lead us; he guides our daily decisions, actions, imaginations and motions, thus, he’s our LORD. In short, the bible quotes, ‘and the government shall be upon his shoulders’, thus, the government of any true pilgrim’s life ought to be upon the shoulders of the Saviour, our God. Thereby, he directs every decisions and actions of a pilgrim, and this is why a moral/religious man will still end up in hell; because Christ is not his LORD, and the government of his life is not upon Christ’s shoulders, as he dictates his own motions, actions and decisions. Is Christ, your Supreme LORD or your Stepping BOARD? CERTAINTY OF THE SHEPHERD’S CARE FOR OUR DAILY NECESSITIES “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.”- Ps. 23:1; Phil.4:19a The economists tell us that a demand that isn’t backed up with the willingness and ability to pay(i.e. money or purchasing power) is just a ‘want’. Therefore, inability of a pilgrim to back up his dire demand with money turns such demand to a want. Now, in the light of this scriptural statement ‘I shall not want’, God means that, when he’s the Shepherd of any creature, he will provide the purchasing power to back up the dire needs of such creature (flocks/sheep); thus, they shall not want and also their needs shall not be a mere want because of lack or inadequate purchasing power. This means that as far as he’s our Shepherd, and the dire needs are daily necessities of life, we shall not want. He even promised, he shall supply all our needs (spiritual, physical, financial, academic, career, marital, ministerial, etc) CAUTION AGAINST SUPERFLUITIES, COVETOUSNESS AND DAMNING NON-ESSENTIALS “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.”- Ps. 23:1; Phil.4:19 Here, God is warning against covetousness. By the phrase ‘I shall not want’, the Psalmist meant that he will not be covetous. He also meant that, since God is his Shepherd, he dictates his taste and desire, and thus he will not desire things that are mere wants and not needful or are dangerous to his spiritual or/and physical life. He also meant that, the possessions of his fellow men won’t determine his demands, thus, there will be no chance to have wants since his needs are already provided by the Good Shepherd. He also meant that he will not be superfluous, thus, he will always ‘cut his coat/cloth according to his size’. He also meant that he won’t seek damning non-essentials (i.e. he will not desire or demand for things that are not essential to the Christian faith, though essential/tasty to the World and its followers). Yes, he knew that God will not provide something that he knows will damn the souls of his Sheep. In short the scripture declares; ‘and God shall supply all my needs according to his riches in glory (not according to the dictates of the world or riches of Satan) by Christ Jesus (not by evil, prostitution, lying, fraud, secret cult, robbery, etc). Note, pilgrim, there’s nothing like ‘heaven help those who help themselves’ in the Bible. Nevertheless, if you do your godly work by godly walk (i.e in a godly way), definitely, God will bless and enrich you; if you are his sheep. CONDITIONAL SUPPLY BY CHRIST FOR OUR DEAR NEEDS “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”- Phillip. 4:19 From the above, God promises to provide all our needs, but it’s conditional. The condition is that your need must align to his riches in glory and it will be through Christ Jesus, not through evil, Satan, secret society membership, robbery, religious founder, self or permissive will, deception, diplomacy, etc. When he said all our needs, what does he mean? That means God shall supply all our; Eternal needs, Economic, Educational, Emotional, Exceptional (distinct), Ecclesiastical(i.e. needs, as a body of Christ), Earthly, Earnest(pressing needs) and Essential needs. He is our Jehovah Jireh and thus, his sheep shall not want. MISERICORDIA, VOBIS ET PAX, AMEN MERCY, GRACE AND PEACE BE UNTO YOU, AMEN
