I WANT TO BE LIKE CHARLIE..... Our church collects pennies for missionaries through the efforts of a developmentally challenged child named Charlie. Charlie keeps a watchful eye on the jar and rejoices in its progress. The other day I noticed Charlie carefully picking silver coins out of the jar and leaving the pennies. Someone asked him what he was doing. He said, “Pennies. Pennies.” You could tell that he was slightly agitated that the rules had not been followed and someone had placed silver coins in the jar. You see, Charlie does not grasp that the silver coins are worth more than mere pennies. Charlie only knows that they did not belong in the jar designated “Pennies for Missionaries.” Oh to be like Charlie where God is concerned and have my understanding of his direction clear. If God says “pennies,” then there should be no doubt that there should ONLY be "pennies" in my jar. Thank you Jesus for Charlie!
