I actually left two comments at the end of my review of this book, as it has special significance and meaning for me, as I am also one of those cancer survivors that the author Jamie Reno talks about. My comments are titled; "Dr. James R. Pawlikowski saved my life!" This actually happened in 1999 at Hoffman Estates Medical Center outside of Chicago, but the real story actually started some 20 years earlier on the dance floor of the Mecca lounge on the southside of Chicago at a reunion, when a woman tried to shoot my mother, but inadvertently shot me. I collapsed to the floor and was dying. The whole story of that night in Chicago many year ago are told in those comments. It is only by the Grace of God that I am still here. It is also fortunate that it was I that was shot, and not my mother, for I was in better shape at the time and do not think that she would have survived. I was Blessed to be able to spend so many subsequent years with my mother despite that event. I am actually reliving those events that happened in Chicago so many years ago out here in San Diego.
