I admit it, Im weak. I vowed I wouldnt do this, but here they are.....then things you may not know about me. 1. I’m extremely sensitive and even though I can often be heard joking that I’ll burst into tears if you look at me cross eyed, I REALLY do get my feelings hurt far too easily. 2. If I could wear sweatpants every single day of the year and not have people worry about my mental health, I would. 3. My father, whose name was Red St. Louis, graduated from Orono High School, home of the Red Riots. While he attended that school, he was a pretty accomplished athlete. My whole life my dad told me that they were called the Orono Riots until he went there, but after he graduated, they changed the name to the Orono “Red” Riots. I was 25 years old before I figured out he was kidding. 4. At the age of four, for a period of two months, I refused to get out of bed in the morning until my parents handed me a piece of cheese in the form of a Kraft Single. As the story goes, Dad came in to get me out of bed one morning and I just downright refused to budge until I was given a piece of cheese. It went on for weeks and I couldn’t or wouldn’t explain my reasons. Then, as quickly as it started, it was over. One morning Dad just found me bounding down the stairs ready for my day. I never mentioned the cheese again. I have no recollection of this strange period of my life. 5. History has proven that there are three things I am just never going to be able to learn how to do...... 1. Juggle 2. Understand the rules of Chess (seriously, how is this game FUN?) 3. Enjoy the game of football. Just last night I tried to watch the Patriots. Every single time I flicked to ESPN, the players were jumping into a pile of people, in a pile of people, or untangling themselves from, you got it, a pile of people. I don’t get it. I just don’t. 6. Some of my family and friends find my love of Cadbury Cream Eggs to be just a bit unsettling. I’m not proud of it, but when I made the discovery that Cadbury introduced a Cadbury “Scream” Egg during the Halloween Season, I was absolutely out of my mind excited. I’ve actually lost sleep trying to come up with catchy titles for eggs that could be sold during the other holidays. Please, if anyone has any ideas how to make the words dream, gleam, ream, stream, team (or teem), steam, theme, beam, seem (or seam), esteem, deem, or scheme into festive holiday egg titles, let me know. Not that I’m desperate. I can stop eating those eggs anytime I want to. 7. I’ve laughed so hard that I’ve peed my pants exactly three times in my life. One of those times I was riding on the shoulders of my dear friend Renee Pooler Hunter. Too much information? My apologies. 8. Spelling is a weakness for me. I’ve always had to work hard at it. My “deep interest” in Cake Wrecks is very likely a mask for my own insecurities in this area. 9. I went to college in hopes of becoming a television news anchor. I did not enjoy my Communications classes at all, and one of my professors once told me I was a bit too “giggly”. Hurtful. 10. My mother is my hero for a million reasons. I’m not sure what I ever did to get so lucky, but I am so thankful to have been raised by such a kind, giving, patient and loving human being. Honestly, she is a gift to everyone she meets and anyone who is lucky enough to call her a friend.
