I agreed to donate a painting to the Pamlico County Coastal - TopicsExpress

I agreed to donate a painting to the Pamlico County Coastal Carolina Delta Waterfowl Chapter but I chose to mix it up a little. I made my version of an beautiful Ned Burgess drake redhead gunning decoy. I tried to stay fairly true to his bird as my reference. (There is no improving on his decoy as far as I see it so I stuck close to it). Ive antiqued it to look used and hunted over, used old style cut nails to secure the head and carved and poured the keel weight (not shown) to resemble the weight he used on so many of his birds. I dont consider myself a carver by any stretch but I had a blast doing this decoy. Im sure Ill do some more. I hope it helps Steve Smith and the Delta Waterfowl Foundation earn a little money for their cause. Here is a link to a bio on Ned Burgess, pics of my decoy and a pic of the Burgess reference decoy I went by. Thanks for checking it out. https://wardmuseum.org/Exhibits/ArtistsArchive/NedBurgess/tabid/332/Default.aspx
