“I almost got a bite”…Joe Shaw a friend of mine says this all the time where we are fishing, “I almost got a bite” he will say if he jerks and nothing was there! Fishing last Saturday was challenging the frigid temperature, was causing ice to form on our rod and reel making it very difficult to detect the subtle tap of a bass as he struck the lure. Lots of time I would jerk because the ice would grab the line and cause it to jump and I would set the hook but nothing was there, I would say “i almost got a bite” then at other times I would feel the line jump and would not set the hook thinking it was ice, only to realize when it was too late that it was a bass and I missed him! It was very difficult to distinguish between ice and a strike. As I reflect back on that… our daily life is the same way, its filled with so much stuff, (noise and destruction) its often very difficult to feel or hear God’s direction for us each day! “be still and know I am God” take a few moments each day and get away from the clutter, find a still quiet place and listen for God each day…don’t go to bed tonight and think “ I almost talked with God today”!
